2024–25 Impact Report: A year of growth and positive impact at Portland

Portland has published its 2024–25 Impact Report, highlighting a year of expansion, strong learner outcomes and growing demand for specialist education, employment and wellbeing support across Nottinghamshire.

Throughout the academic year, significant developments were made as we opened our first Nottingham City campus on Forest Road West and successfully completed a project to develop a second campus nearby which opened on 1st September 2025. The expansion is part of a wider strategy to respond to increasing demand for specialist SEND provision at a time when local authorities and the national system are under sustained financial pressure.

Portland College supported 281 learners during the year, a 12% increase on the previous year, with overall achievement rates for accredited qualifications reaching 94%. Several programmes achieved 100% success rates, reflecting strong educational outcome.

Health and wellbeing services delivered measurable improvements, including 1,090 hours of one-to-one counselling and reduced levels of low wellbeing following intervention. Progression outcomes remained strong, with 114 new job starts recorded and 95% of Jump Start learners securing a post-16 destination.

More than 9,300 volunteering hours were contributed, generating over £109,000 in added value, as Portland reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring people with disabilities have a lifetime of opportunity.

Portland would like to thank its dedicated staff, volunteers, learners, families, partners and funders for their continued commitment and support throughout the year.
