Why support us
Help Disabled People Live Independently
Portland Charity is a dynamic organisation empowering 100s of disabled people every year with outstanding education and care programmes. We believe every disabled person should have a life time of opportunity.
Many disabled people cannot choose to live independently owing to a lack of suitable housing and support services. This can impact severely on their physical and mental health and result in much higher social isolation.
We are building 36 new accessible homes in our stunning Sherwood Forest location with 24/7 care support on tap. Tenants in the Laurels Development will have easy access to nearby Mansfield and Nottingham in addition to amazing on-site facilities such as our Woodland Adventure Zone and a hydrotherapy pool. Our new homes will be state-of-the art in the fight against climate change.
Portland Charity operates an Ofsted Outstanding specialist college, care home, day services and adult education programmes for people with disabilities. We are a Centre of Excellence for Autism.
As a charity, we are looking for supporters who can help us deliver this exciting project and give the gift of independence to more people with disabilities.
