Portland College Announced as Runners Up in Discover Ashfield Awards

Discover Ashfield Awards Trophy Presentation

As a very much community focussed organisation, we’re pleased to be awarded as a runner up for the Discover Ashfield COVID-19 Community Organisation Award.

We remained open throughout lockdowns, providing vital support for our vulnerable young people and those with key-worker parents.

As well as continuing to support some of society’s most vulnerable young people, we supported our local community. Our Pathways team has continued to support local people to overcome disabilities and find employment whilst our Fundraising Team has supported Let’s All Eat by delivering over 4500 sandwiches, securing much needed funding and dedicated space at our Pathways hub in Sutton, enabling them to continue their vital service and help fight food poverty locally.

Mark Dale, Principal and CEO at Portland College said; “We are incredibly proud of the dedication of our staff, who have helped us to safely navigate the pandemic while providing a high-quality service to our beneficiaries and the wider community. Our staff were keen to do even more, and at the start of the pandemic, during the PPE shortage, they made face visors for Kings Mill Hospital and Clipstone Hall and Lodge Care Home, as well as for our own staff.”

To further improve our robust safety measures, in January, we introduced a testing clinic on site, with regular testing protecting our campus against outbreaks. Last month, we held a vaccination clinic on campus and were proud to be able to offer this fundamental level of protection to our vulnerable young people and their staff.
