Abbie Storer has been voted as the April 2022 Work Experience Employee of the Month!
She undertook work experience on the college reception; as a Reception Assistant and was nominated by reception staff, Carol and Jordan.
They said, “Abbie has been very confident on the reception desk throughout her time so far and never saying no to a new challenge. She has successfully; answered and diverted phone calls, maintained the upkeep of the reception, greeted external visitors and has also helped out Portland Print by delivering their parcels when they have been a team member short.
Abbie can sometimes get frustrated at herself at little things, but she will always shake off a mishap and carries on delivering great customer service to all that come through the Birches reception.
She has shown great communication skills, has been a team player and maintained the reception area to a professional standard.”
Abbie herself said that she has “learnt customer service skills, such as answering the telephone professionally” during her time on work experience when asked what skills she has learnt. Abbie also said that she is “Proud of all the work I have done, as I would not have had the confidence to do work experience previously, but thanks to the support I have had I believe in myself”.
Abbie’s words are echoed by her Progression Tutor; Leeann Dallman who said “Since doing work experience Abbie’s confidence in everything she does at college has improved.”
