Student Placement Opportunities

Portland College can support your business to provide disabled Learners with experience of real life working environments, through a combination of Work Experience and Supported Internships.

Portland College’s specialist staff will work with you to identify suitable opportunities, and ensure your business is equipped and ready to provide a suitable opportunity.

Portland College also helps individuals to improve their Employability Skills and prepare for future interviews by bringing local, national and international businesses in to the Portland College Campus to carry out mock interviews and assessments for Learners.

The impact of supporting such initiatives on a workplace can be profound. Regularly observed impacts on business include:

  • Increased staff morale
  • Improvements in workplace cohesion and team working
  • Increased awareness of equal opportunities and disability legislation
  • An increased awareness of what disabled people are capable of doing, and what skills they can bring into a business

If your business is able to offer any of the following opportunities:

  • Work Experience
  • Supported Internships
  • Practice Interviews
  • Employer Workplace visits

Please contact us to explore opportunities.

People with disabilities often have well-honed problem solving skills and a degree of adaptability that are especially valuable in today's fast changing business environment.
