Welcome to the Graduation Ceremony information page. Here you will find everything you need to know about your Graduation Ceremony, including booking forms, event details and frequently asked questions.
Graduation Ceremony Details – Mansfield & Forest Road West learners
We are holding five Graduation Ceremonies for learners leaving Portland College this year, one for each learner journey. However, the Explore learner journey has been split into two separate ceremonies depending on your Progression Tutor.
- Communicate Learners – Wednesday 1st July, 2:45 – 3:45pm
- Explore Learners
- Wednesday 1st July, 10:00 – 11:00am (Progression Tutors; Verity Cartwright, Jacob Graley, Claire Johnson & Marie Tolhurst)
- Wednesday 1st July, 1:30 – 2:30pm (Progression Tutors; Lorraine Barnes, Jessica Harris, Lorraine Little, Louise McBride, Caitlin Williams.)
- Develop Learners – Friday 3rd July, 10.00-11.00am
- Demonstrate & Supported Internship Learners – Friday 3rd July, 1.30-2.30pm
All ceremonies will be held in Newstart Theatre on our Mansfield Campus, followed by light refreshments in the Coffee Shop and an opportunity to take photos.
Graduation Ceremony Details – Woodborough Road learners
All learners are invited to attend one ceremony:
- Monday 6th July – 11-11:30am
The ceremony will be held in the Common Room, followed by light refreshments in the garden, weather permitting.
Please ensure you and your guests arrive at least 15 minutes before your ceremony start time.
What to do next
You will need to book yours and your guest’s tickets by Friday 12th June.
- Book your Learner Graduation Ticket and any Guest Tickets (up to 2 guests) using the registration form link below.
- Pay for your guest tickets using the payment link also below. If you receive Free School Meals we will waive the cost of your guest’s tickets. Learners on Free School Meals just need to complete the registration form.

Frequently Asked Questions
You will either receive your certificate from your Progression Tutor or we will post it out to you.
Guests will be able to park in the visitor car park, subject to availability.
If you are usually supported by a Portland staff member, their place will be free and does not count towards your guest allowance.
If you are timetabled to be in a class, then you will return to your class after your ceremony.
Unfortunately, we can only accommodate 2 guests per learner. If you would like additional guests to go on a waiting list, you can contact us at marketing@portland.ac.uk and we will let you know if any additional spaces become available.
Yes, if you are eligible for Free School Meals, we will waive the cost of your guest tickets. You can contact the events team on 01623 499111 for more information.
There is no formal dress code for learners or guests. Learners will not wear cap and gown.
