Finance Assistant

We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Finance Assistant to join our team. You will provide support across the whole Finance team, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with procurement activities and contributing to effective budget control and financial reporting.
This is a varied role requiring excellent attention to detail, confident communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy working environment.
What you will be doing:
- Processing purchase and sales invoices.
- Liaising with suppliers to place orders, confirm deliveries and resolve queries.
- Completing BACS payments through the finance system and uploading payment files to the bank.
- Carrying out weekly credit card reconciliations and supporting month-end financial tasks.
- Maintaining purchasing records, the contracts register, and the preferred suppliers list.
- Monitoring the procurement helpdesk, managing multiple email accounts and processing orders.
- Completing petty cash payments and reconciling cash receipts, tills and expenses.
- Maintaining student finance records and assisting with college banking activities.
- Assisting with stock management, distribution and stocktaking, including the manual handling of stock.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Maths and English at Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE Grade C, or equivalent.
- Experience of working in a busy office or similarly fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when entering and checking data.
- Good communication, organisation and time-management skills.
- A systematic approach to work and proven problem-solving ability.
- Experience of working effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and work in line with data protection regulations.
