National Citizen Service

It all starts at YES

National Citizen Service

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a once in a life time opportunity for 16 to 17 year olds in a scheme which is part of the Government’s vision to build a Big Society whilst promoting British Values within young people.

The programme is run over 4 weeks where you will meet amazing new people, form friendships, gain life skills, challenge yourself and prepare yourself for work.

A typical programme will start with a four night stay at an outward bound centre where you will be encouraged to work as part of a team and challenge yourself with different activities, such as abseiling, rock climbing and building campfires.

Phase 2 is a further four night stay at a local residential centre where you will further develop new skills and gain a broader understanding of your local community whilst working with the people you have formed friendships with.

Phase 3 is about getting the chance to use all of the skills you have learnt and put them to use by making a mark in your local community. This is the part where you and your team shine and show you have the power to change the area/world you live in!

Phase 4 Graduation! This is where we get to celebrate your fantastic hard work throughout your time on the programme. A look back at the highs and lows with your fellow young people and families. You will even receive a certificate signed by the Prime Minister, which you will be able to put in your CV and College/University applications. So let’s celebrate!

Once you have completed the programme you become a part of the NCS family which gains you access to events, shows and much more.

Thank you so much for taking such great care of our daughter this last year. We were able to relax knowing she was with people who care about her
