Supported Internships

Supported Internships

Supported internships are a structured study programme based primarily at an Employer’s premises.

They enable young people aged 16-24 with a statement of Special Educational Needs, a Learning Difficulty Assessment or an Education, Health and Care plan to move towards sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work. Much of this learning will take place in the workplace.

Supported internships are unpaid, and usually last for a minimum of six months. Wherever possible, they support the young person to move into paid employment at the end of the programme. Alongside their time at your business premises, learners complete a personalised study programme which includes the chance to study for relevant vocational and employability qualifications, if appropriate, and English and maths.

In you think your business might be able to offer Supported Internships, or to find out more please contact 01623 499111 or email us .

Thank you so much for taking such great care of our daughter this last year. We were able to relax knowing she was with people who care about her
