A learner at Portland College, Scott, has learnt valuable skills on work experience at Creswell Crags.
As a result of its unique features, Creswell Crags has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It has also been put forward as a potential World Heritage Site. Scott has been on his placement since October last year, carrying out tasks such as lopping tree branches, litter picking and weeding. Scott’s work coach say’s that “Scott has taken to each task with enthusiasm and works really hard.”
Scott has been working towards various targets with the help of his Job Coach that have included working independently for 20 minutes or longer. Since Scott has been on his placement he has gained an understanding of work ethics and strengthened his communication skills as-well-as working as part of a team. Scott has been working with students from Landmarks College who have also been on work experience at Creswell Crags. Scott also learnt how to complete his timesheet and now completes it without being reminded.
