Portland College is thrilled to announce that work will begin on the Woodland Adventure Zone project, in February, after successfully securing the final funding needed to get the project kick-started.
News of the successful grant application came through from the Nottinghamshire LEADER funding scheme yesterday, helping the college to meet their fundraising target. The Adventure Zone is set to bring an exciting new element to the college offer, creating a full adventure experience with a climbing tower, 100 metre zipline, adventure trail, bike trail, along with areas for group/team building work, sensory activities and equipment for some outdoor sports.
All facilities will be fully accessible to people with disabilities, including wheelchair users, and provided free of charge to local primary schools and disadvantaged groups. At weekends the Adventure Zone will be open to individuals and families to enjoy a healthy, fun day out for just a small fee.
It is thanks to the overwhelming support from trusts, funds, donors, businesses and organisations such as the Mansfield Building Society, Ashfield District Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and the Chad Newspaper, who have supported the campaign, and made the new development possible.
