28th Courage Awards held at Portland College

The Rotary Club of Mansfield’s 28th Annual Courage Awards

On Tuesday The Rotary Club of Mansfield’s 28th Courage Award’s was held at the Portland College Enterprise Suite where courageous students gathered to collect awards for their bravery and achievements.The 12 young people also received a civic citation from Mayor of Mansfield, Kate Allsop.

Amy Barnes and Dominic Evans from Portland College both collected a courage award for taking on challenges and overcoming adversities.

Amy’s tutor Stewart Dickins nominated Amy for the way she has grown in confidence and belief in herself to the point of showing enough maturity to take on work experience at B&M Bargains in Sutton.

Dominic, who was nominated by Carol Burkitt, APTCOO Chief Executive Officer said “Dominic has an excellent memory and always has consideration for other people’s activities and outlooks, asking questions and is enthused about getting to know people.”

The Day was held at Portland Functions where a delicious three course meal was served by the catering team, with extra help form staff, volunteers and learners.

Congratulations to all of the inspirational young people who received awards, and to all of our learners at Portland College who face challenges everyday.
