Care Support Worker

It’s ok if you don’t have experience working in Care or with people with learning disabilities because we will give you the training you need.

We have a variety of residential services including Independent Living, Short Breaks and FE Residential and you will be able to work across all of them. Our residential areas are based on a woodland campus at the heart of Sherwood Forest, close to Mansfield which includes a fully accessible climbing wall and zip wire that many of our learners and citizens enjoy using.

Working Hours

Portland Charity supports flexible working and understands that a shift pattern or full time hours doesn’t suit everyone’s needs. We can offer full time or part time hours, 12-hour shifts, 7-hour shifts or shorter shifts. You can discuss your availability at your interview with our care managers. To give you an idea of the hours we work our typical day shifts start at 6.45am until 2.45pm and 2.30pm until 10.30pm. If you are only available a couple of days a week, early mornings, evenings or weekends then we are happy to discuss this with you too.

Shifts will be provided 2 months in advance, giving you plenty of notice to plan other activities alongside work.

We all have different needs when it comes to the hours we work so if days don’t work for you then we are looking for people to join our Nights Team. The shifts typically start at 10:30pm until 7:00am and work on a 7 on, 7 off shift patterns. Again, if you are only available for work a couple of nights a week or at the weekend then we are happy to discuss your individual availability at interview.
