The Recruitment Process at Portland
Portland College provides individual training programmes for both young adults within Learning & Skills and for mature adults within Employment.

Formal assessments take place within both departments and application is made by Connexions Personal Advisers for Learning & Skills and Disability Employment Advisers for Employment.
During the assessment process potential students will have an opportunity to meet staff across the whole College (Care/Support/Medical/Therapy & Tutorial) who are all involved in delivering and supportinglearning at the College. Before accepting students, the College must ensure it canadequately meet the specific needs of individuals within our learning environment.
The offer of a place is not made until all areas involved in the assessment process are happy they can meet the specific needsof the potential student.
Portland College has been helping andsupporting people with disabilities for over 50 years and during that time has gained agreat deal of experience in dealing with a wide range of physical disabilities andassociated learning difficulties. Many of our students have congenital disabilities whilst others have disabilities arising from accidents or other trauma.
