Building positive relationships through sport

Building positive relationships through sport

Pictured above are the two football teams from Portland College and Dawn House School from Rainworth, following the second leg of a football match organised to build on the relationship between the two.

Many of the players from Dawn House already access Portland College as they work towards their NVQ in Sports Leadership, and both games were organised by this group of learners as part of their course.

Each team comprised both learners and staff with the emphasis on inclusive sport, enjoying the matches and developing the link between the School and College rather than the results; however, there must always be a winner, and over the two legs Dawn House ran out as victors by an 11-3 aggregate.

Dave Winter, Sports Co-ordinator at Portland College said “We have been working with Dawn House School for a few years and developing our relationship to benefit both organisations. The learners who have accessed the NVQ programme have all enjoyed their time working with us at the College and must be congratulated on organising both games, including hiring and paying for the pitch at a local Sports Centre. Their development has been fantastic – we are hopeful this link will continue for a long time.”
