Portland College achieves Quality Standard for Information, Advice and Guidance

Portland College, the specialist national residential college for people with disabilities and associated learning difficulties based in Mansfield, recently received the great news that their Student Information Advice and Guidance (SIAG) service has been awarded the Matrix Quality Standard for Information Advice and Guidance Services.

The SIAG service is in place to equip and empower the College students with knowledge and information to enable them to make choices for themselves and to be able to achieve their goals and aspirations.

The assessment included a full review of the services offered by means of observation of the SIAG team in operation, full tours of the College, examination of the SIAG service plan and a number of interviews with student groups.

The Matrix assessment demonstrates that Portland College SIAG team provides a service for students which is in accordance with a national quality framework, and is the culmination of 18 months work in developing and refining the advice and guidance available.

Jayne Hilton, Student Advice Information and Guidance Manager (pictured centre) said “We are extremely delighted to have achieved this accreditation on behalf of the College and that our hard work has been recognised. We take pride in that our learners are supported by committed and skilled staff that empowers learners in reaching their aspirations and goals and help individuals reduce or remove any barriers in that journey.”
