Official Opening of Enterprise Units at Portland College

Monday 26th April 2010 marked the Official Opening of the Beeches Enterprise Units at Portland College. With the support of East Midlands Development Agency (emda) Portland College has developed a unique concept for the East Midlands - a business enterprise unit which is a fully accessible environment that supports disabled entrepreneurs to start up a new business, for businesses which support a disabled client base, or for employers who employ and train people with disabilities to come to our campus and share our very special facilities.

Based in an office development, the ten varying sized units offer the ideal base for start-up businesses from 1 to 5 people and already have a number of business tenants including national charity DARE (UK).

The official cutting of the ribbon was done by Andrew Morgan, Director of Skills and Communities at emda and Dr Mark Dale, Principal and CEO at Portland College.

Within the same building and also launched on the same date is the Beeches Lodge, a high quality bed and breakfast facility. The Lodge draws upon Portland College’s 60 years of providing residential services for disabled people to offer luxurious, spacious, and comfortable rooms within a woodland setting.
