MP for Sherwood visits Portland College
On Friday 10th September 2010, Portland College opened its doors to local MP Mark Spencer.
Mr Spencer, who holds the seat for the Sherwood constituency and has major political interests in education and employment, visited the College to discover more about how it is having a positive effect on the lives of disabled people, increasing their independence and employability. He spent the afternoon talking to students and staff and looking round the specialist facilities on the campus, including teaching accommodation, arts and media hub, employment guidance service and the Beeches, our new business enterprise centre on site.
Of his visit to the College, Mark said, “Portland College is not only a great asset to the local area but is of national importance in the work it undertakes, training its students and improving their skills to assist them getting back into work.”
