Portland College were celebrating today after being awarded a brand new football kit by the Football Foundation, the UK’s largest sports charity.

The new kit, worth £400 was awarded to the team as part of the Foundation’s Junior Kit Scheme. The scheme provides new strips and equipment to teams across the country and is fronted by the Arsenal and England star Theo Walcott.

The Football Foundation provides £1million worth of kit and equipment vouchers to junior clubs and schools, ensuring young players of all abilities have the best possible start in the game. Items available include a full strip, training bibs, balls, flags and kit bags – everything a young footballer needs to play the same.

The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the Premier League, The Football Association and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity with a £40million budget going straight into the heart of football.

David Winter, Sports Co-ordinator at Portland College said, “The Football Foundation does great work in supporting clubs, schools and colleges, and we are delighted that Portland were chosen to receive new kit. The Portland College teams can now go to play in tournaments in a fantastic new kit, look professional and feel good about themselves whilst competing.”
