Tuesday 27th September sees the official launch of the brand new ‘Portland Trail’; a new 11.5 mile trail between Portland College and Sherwood Pines. Plus the fantastic opportunity to hire a range of bikes at a very reasonable cost, now at both centres!
The partnership between the two local organisations will aim to get more people out and about cycling on the relatively easy trail between the two Coffee Shops, just 11.5 miles apart from each other. It doesn’t matter if you want to just do one way of the trail, or both there and back, or even several times over, you can hire and leave your bikes at either stop!
A fully inclusive 4 wheel trike will also be available for members of the public to hire.
David Powney, Catering Manager at Portland College, and the driving force of this project said; ‘As a keen cyclist myself, I am delighted that this partnership has come to fruition. The cycle route is perfect for all ages and abilities and with the added bonus of being able to hire bikes at both ends of the trail, there is no excuse for anyone to get on a bike! Reward yourself at the end with a delicious piece of cake from the Coffee Shop again at either end of the trail!!’
All monies raised by Portland with all enterprises such as this one, are ploughed back into the College, so your money can make a real difference to a local charity and to disabled learners at Portland.
